Isu Ruday High School, Dapada
History (Brief History and Milestones of the School)
Between 1887 and 1928, the Diocese of Daman was under the leadership of two bishops and an Apostolic Protonotary. In 1923, during his final years, Bishop D. Sebastiano Jose Pereira entrusted the Dapada region to the Franciscan Missionary Brothers of Borivili. These Brothers established their presence at Zatipada, Dapada, the same year, initiating their missionary work by educating the local community in moral values and basic literacy.
In 1930, they opened their first school in Kudacha, followed by another in Dapada in 1931. The schools began under the leadership of Bro. Gracia, who started classes in Gujarati medium. Bro. Gracia, born on November 3, 1889, in Thane, laid the foundation for education in the region. Later, in 1940, Fr. Jose Albuquerque began serving in Isu Ruday High School.
