Brief History

Fr. Agnelo English School was conceptualized and made into reality by then Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Juao Pedro Menezes and well wishers of Parish of silvassa & a Parishioner Mr. Jawahar D’Cruz, keeping in mind the need of English medium School after Liberation of Dadra Nagar Haveli from the Portuguese Rule in 1954.

As per the General Registration record book of School (GR) indicates that school started with 45 Students in std 1st in June 1964 in Parish Hall as classroom with few furniture to substitute for working desk and benches. School obtained official recognition from the Education Department of DNH in same academic year 1964-1965 by outward letter no, EDN/119/3-2-1965.

Fr. Juao Pedro Menzes was the first Principal and Mr. Arnaldo Coutinho as the first Teacher of the school. When the surge of students increased, all of them could not be properly accommodated at the old school Church premises.  As a result some classes had to be shifted to old convent building near present government Library. In the year 1989 due to the sincere efforts of Rev. Fr. Dias and Rev. Fr. Sebastiao Mascarenhas sfx it was upgraded from Primary to Secondary. During the tenure of Fr. Valerian D’Souza sfx (Principal) new High Secondary building block was constructed and High Secondary was started in year 2001.

Fr. Agnelo English High School Silvassa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, is a prominent educational institution named after Blessed Agnelo de Souza, a revered Goan priest known for his piety and dedication to education.
